Stuttering: a challenge for speech therapy
Abstract
The complexity of the disorder, the factors present in its emergence and maintenance, its evolution and the possible reasons for the failure of traditional therapeutic processes are discussed. The need for a change in the objectives to be achieved in its treatment and the techniques to be used is raised. Some attention strategies are implemented aimed at providing the person who stutters with communication tools that allow social interaction free of tension, fear and shame, regardless of the levels of fluency present.
